A member of ICG 669 and Vice President of the Society of Motion Picture Still Photographers (SMPSP), Robert Falconer is a lifelong storyteller known for his memorable stills on such iconic properties as Carrie, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Black Mirror, The Predator, The Twilight Zone and The X-Files. His clients range from Netflix to 20th Century Fox, with his work appearing in top publications such as Variety, The Hollywood Reporter, The New York Times and Vanity Fair.
Upon earning his bachelor’s degree from the University of Victoria, Robert began his career in the nineties as a multidisciplinary writer/photographer. An avid cinephile since childhood, his first professional introduction to the film industry was as an agency-repped screenwriter, where he penned two freelance scripts for Star Trek: The Next Generation, prompting multiple invitations to pitch stories for both Deep Space Nine and Voyager. While writing for the screen, Robert cultivated a working knowledge of the grammar of cinematic storytelling, along with strong conceptual and ideation skills, which he now applies to his unit still photography.
Throughout his career, Robert has remained a passionate devotee of both the art and science of photography. He’s written features for Nikon Owner magazine for the past 21 years, led and co-produced photography workshops, mentored aspiring photographers, and served as a Fujifilm X-Photographer™. When not on assignment, he pursues other genres of photography—from travel and social documentary to natural and urban landscapes.
